Family Bonds

How close is your family bonds . With your children , your friends , your family , you in-laws

Do you experience that personal relations between you and others have fade away . How often do you see your chaildren ? How often do do you organise Family re-unions. Do you speak personally with your children and family - or is it only restricted to new technology cellphone calls. Do you still have friends or do you only have birthday families and friends . Are your social lifestyle filled with loneliness and emptieness .

Why is all this lovely technology causing our family values and lifestyle to fade away like a ship dissapearing over the horison.

Youth Un-employment

So many effort are been done to ensure the huge youth population of employment in a land where no growth or new employment exist. The only way to give employment to the youth is to retrench or put older employees onto early retirement. Many of these older workers will then replace the youth as un-employed. For persons older than 40 it is more difficult that the youth to seek employment. So are we solving the youth employment problem or are we creating bigger un-employment figures. Also think of all the expertise that gets lost in this movement of employees

The right employment

How many of us are being employed in a position that we don’t like or not enjoying. We don’t get the satisfaction we want out of these positions.

But what do we really want out of life. Do we sit back and moan and groan and neglect our duties assigned to us . Or do we do what we have to do . Doing our best is the right thing to do.

Maybe we should sit back and be thankful for our salary – doesn’t matter how big or small. As long as we can cover our basic needs we should feel honored for being employed.

We can also think towards the millions of people that don’t have employment and are suffering loss of sleep or don’t even have a place to sleep. Those people that can’t even answer their phones in worry it might be someone that wants take their possession away because they cannot pay their debts. For those that have to eat out of rubbish bins because they don’t have money for food

Sometimes with everything we have we still complain about what we not have. Maybe we should be thankful for what we have

Employment

I am a 53 year old male that recently came to the Garden Route through circumstances beyond my control. I was retrenched in Gauteng after 19 years service with a good above average salary in 1999 . Now I have to settle and work for a below the breadline salary.

The problems and ideas the way I see it

a. To many people over the age of 40 are being retrenched or losing their jobs. Employers don’t want to employ them because of their age and their experienced picked up over the years and expecting big salaries. This person then gets a job offer but with the minimum wage which he accepts just to keep money in his pocket and to survive. This means that valuable skills are lost to the community.  

b. Salaries are very low in the Garden Route and people are thus moving from one job to another seeking better salaries and opportunities. 

c. Because of the low salaries offered people with not enough experiences are employed which causes work to be under performed and companies closing down. 

d. Employment is sometimes offered to friends and family and not to proper work seekers. 

e. It is not what you can do to get employment, but who you know, gets you a work. 

f. The recent education summit looked at learnerships only for the school leavers and leaves the rest of the employment market out in the cold. 

g. Major companies and franchises have Head offices in Cape Town and in Port Elizabeth but nothing in between. 

h. Lets join companies, municipalities, government and start an employment indaba here in the Garden Route where all can come together and switch ideas and projects to help the unemployed. 

i. The Garden Route has the ability and the infrastructure to become a major area if all stands together and plan towards it. 

j. Most of the residents still want to have The Garden Route run as a retirement place and not that of a blooming upcoming new city where both young and old can live together

People out there in High positions in SABC , SARUGBY and DSTV - There still is supporters in South Africa that is middle class .  PLSE WAKE UP.

27FREE

On 27 April 1994 a new free democratically South Africa was born to cater for all people in our land. We are still struggling with the past and corruption , murder and rape and robbery is still amongst us . We hear about all the negative reports in our news casts , our televisions and on our social networks throughout the year .

We have several movement in SA that supports saving of power , save the rhino , save our children etc

Plse join me in starting a movement called 27FREE . Let me explain more.

The date 27 April is important to our history. but that's once a year . Let's start this movement and on the 27th of each month ( 12 times a year) we stand still and think about our free democracy . On that day we only tweet or broadcast positive messages throughout SA and on that days we forget about the negativity surrounding us .

Test Rugby Experience

My name is Joseph van der Poel and age 52 years old. I consider myself as one of the unsung supporters of South African Rugby . I do not have DSTV  and follow all provincial and Springbok rugby games via the old and reliable   RSG radio station in the comfort of my lounge because the money is not there   to sit on the pavillion ( which is my big dream) 

 Part of my dreams came true when a friend of mine suprised me with 2  tickets  for the springboks game in Port Elizabeth on 20 August 2011.

Althouh i stay in George i plan to drive to PE and back on that day to fulfill my dream of wathing my first live rugby game. Currently i am
 working extra time after hours to get some funds to pay for my petrol to PE and  back to George

Letter

Left George early saturday morning at 06h00 full of anticipation on what the trip would hold in for me . Dressed in my sponsored tshirt ( thanks to my sponsor for this wonderful gift and may they more success in their bussiness) and my sponsored rugby tickets ( had to turn back after 5 km because left the rugby tickets at home wow that would have been a disaster) . Arrived in P E at my overnight stay location at Buhlebendalo THE RESORT at van Stadens Rivier Mond to book in. After negative reporting earlier this year in PE newspaper i was suprised to see that the accomodation was wel priced , clean and a real pleasure to stay in . The staff was friendly and this place will definitely be re-visited on my next holiday. Left for the stadium and easily and suprised and also at the correct entrance gate find a parking 1 block away from the stadium which helped because the wife has a slight hip problem. I must admit that it was a great feeling seeing the big and great stadium from closeby - breathtaking.

The staff , security etc at the stadium was some of the friendliest suppliers i have ever seen and was pronto with advice and trying to help and assist well before you noticed that you are unsure or wrong. Saw some nice looking females walking around with something like bussiness cards in their hands. Very nosy i asked them what is to offer. They replied promoting photo taking at Castle Corner . Wow. Jumped right in and got photo taken with   wife on hand. Taking photos at castle corner was a blissful event and the staff there gave 5 star service such as the staff at the staduium . Spend some time sipping some juice and enjoy the friendly crowd , music and the atmosphere while waiting for 14h00 to step onto the stand to watch the curtain raiser . was amazed to see the spirit of the people in the stadium waiting for the big moment.

EP rugby union with their sponsor has organised and set up a 5 star event that was enjoyed by everyone. The organisers could be proud and deserve a pat of recognition on this event. They pulled ou all steps to make this event a event to remember.

14h00 on the stadium - what a sight and a feeling for a person on the verge of seeing his first (and last unfortunately due to money) live rugby game on such a big and impressive stadium . Proudly wearing my sponsored shirt i sat down in relief and awaiting for the events to start. I now have the feeling as described my many who has watched live games. the awesomeness view , the feeling you share with rest of the spectators , the spirit and comradeship between the people and the feeling of belonging . Abandon the outside world with its problems and differences . Now you only live for whats happening and to happen in the stadium . A world inside a world . A world full of adrennelin , frienship and anticipation. Forgotten the outside world of problems , now you only live for the moment on hand.

Now you are out of the box , you are one with the players on the field , you share their feelings , their vision and their team spirit . you are on the field of play . you see more you experience their adrenelin their proud and instead of 45,000 people and 30 players you only feel one soul fighting for honour and pride . You see outside the box of the tv or the radio . You focus your attention on all corners of the field . You are part of the players in their decision making processes . You feel the ball in your hands and you aim for the poles with the player . You experience joy , sorrow and happiness and tiredness all in one . What a feeling that i have been missing all of my years  - 52 years in total.

Now its back to old RSG and maybe if lucky a delayed broadcast on sabc2 - But will I always think back to the thrilling and envying experience i had for 1 day -

Lions Supporter to Supporter

I am a 53 year old Lions rugby supporter residing in George Western Cape. I follow the Lions Rugby union matches on radio 2000 and RSG because I cannot afford DSTV, and I believe this makes me one of the biggest rugby supporters in South Africa. I am forwarding this letter in support of the Management and players of the rugby union

All teams whether they are good or average have their supporter’s base that attends all of their rugby games and some even follow their team where-ever they play. But in this letter I would like to concentrate on the Lions Rugby Union. According to me there are 2 bases of supporters. Number 1 is the true supporter that stands behind his team in win and loose situations. Number 2 is the winning supporters, they only support if the team is winning . Since middle last year with the good results in the Currie Cup the Lions supporter base has grown tremendously and the team felt this support and playing for their supporters. Against all odds the Currie Cup were held up by the Lions and thousands of cheering Lions Fans and Supporters roamed the streets.

But then came the Kings saga. The EP Kings are guaranteed a place in the Super 15 for 2013. Is this money and influence talking or is the real valid reason for this announcement?. Is Money lately the reason for entering competitions or is sport and performance still the main decider? It is difficult for us as supporters to understand why this decision was made by SARU. Does the person that supports the game and pays the money not have any say in any matter? Everybody laughed when Doc Danie Craven said these words “When professionalism enters the sport arena the real sportsmanship disappears”

I believe all of these factors do influence the performance of the rugby administrators and the rugby players. If there is no goal to play for why give your best.

I call upon the real supporters of The Lions rugby union and The South African Rugby public to show their support in a decent manner. Stop all these mud smearing campaigns in the media and around the braaivleis fires. Show your team the support they need whether they are on a winning streak or on a losing streak. Let’s act like real gentlemen and not like sport hooligans. Show your real support and rather send emails of encouragement and support to Mr. De Klerk and Mitchell and ensure them of your real support. We, as supporters, don’t really know or understand in what position or crisis these management personnel are and they don’t need our moans or groans to distract them from their work. They have been employed because they have the skills and the knowledge for their respective positions. If you believe you can do a better job ,  why didn’t you qualify yourself and applied for these positions?. If you are a better player than any of the team the why haven’t you packed out your boots and started to practice?.

Come on Rugby Supporters show us your real support and prove to the South African public that you care about South African Rugby
